Eagles LB Shaun Bradley to miss the season after tearing his Achilles in a preseason loss to the Ravens

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Shaun Bradley’s season is over.

Bradley tore his Achilles in the Eagles’ season opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, . Bradley confirmed the season-ending injury on social media on Sunday.

“It’s not like I wanted the season to end for me, but I do believe God really does give his toughest battles to his toughest soldiers,” Bradley wrote on Instagram in part. “I’ve been beating the odds my whole life. I’m not meant to be here. (This is) just another chapter in my story. I’ll be back better than I ever was, I can promise you that.”

Bradley was knocked down in the third quarter of the Eagles’ 20-19 loss to the Ravens on Saturday while on the court for a penalty kick. He remained on the field for some time in pain before he was eventually carried off the field and taken to the locker room.

Bradley was entering his fourth major league season this fall. The Eagles selected him first in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He had seven complete tackles last season, but has played 80% of the Eagles’ special teams games.

The 26-year-old Temple alum was entering the final year of his initial $3.5 million deal with the Eagles.

The Eagles have been working to replace both TJ Edwards and Keizer White as linebackers this season after letting both starters go into free agency this past season. The team brought in Myles Jack and Zach Cunningham, and they beek in Nakobe Dean, Nicholas Morrow and Christian Ellis with two rookies so far in training camp. While Bradley could have worked his way into the mix, his chance this season is now gone.

The Ravens beat the Eagles by one point on Saturday, accounting for . The Ravens have not lost in the preseason now since 2015. The Eagles, who fell in the Super Bowl last season to the Kansas City Chiefs, will officially open their season on September 10 against the New England Patriots.
