Wendy’s has brought its take on Italian diner to the drive-thru. Late last year, the house of the Frosty pie and Square Burger added two new sandwiches to its menu: the Italian Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich and the Italian Mozzarella Cheeseburger. Oh, and they’re both topped with a disk of fried cheese. To keep the additions tasty, Wendy’s has also introduced new Garlic Fries. This is brand new, so for the Italian Wendy’s Chicken Sandwich, Italian Mozzarella Cheese, and Garlic Fries, I not only tried the combo to see if they were as good as they looked, but CircleYu Ling Wu also participated in the event.
Before I get into the taste test, it’s good to know what you’re getting. According to Wendy’s, the Italian chicken mozzarella sandwich Crispy breaded chicken breast, aged Asiago cheese, fried mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce, all neatly arranged between toasted garlic bread. Joined Made to crave lineup With classics like the Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger. To make it your way, you can get a classic, grilled or spicy chicken fillet. The burger version, replaces the patties with chicken.
As for the garlic fries, Wendy’s has taken their traditional naturally cut potatoes and “covered them in a delicious garlic herb sauce” depending on the version. For me, it was more of a garlicky seasoning than a sauce (but I’ll get to that later). “We have a successful track record of taking familiar favorites and combining them in new and exciting ways to deliver a culinary experience you won’t find anywhere else,” John Lee, Wendy’s Vice President of Culinary Innovation, said at the time. Is it all a successful combination, though?
Italian mozzarella chicken sandwich review
The Italian mozzarella chicken sandwich aims to embody “all the familiar flavors of a homemade Italian dinner,” according to the company. I can’t speak for this supposed to taste, but the sandwich reminded me of Chicken Parmesan with all the taste of a classic dish: breaded chicken, mozzarella, and tomato sauce.
At first, it tasted a bit dry, but once the marina sauce arrived, I was more than happy to keep eating. Mix of breaded chicken And The fried mozzarella translated into plenty of breading, which added a satisfying crunch. The star of this sandwich was the chicken and Asiago cheese. As much as I wanted that disk of fried mozzarella to shine, it was overpowered by the Asiago. I’m all for the extra cheese, but flavor-wise, only one could prevail.
To do my full duty as a taste tester, I tried every single ingredient in the sandwich, and sure enough, the mozzarella lacked the edge and verve you get from fresh mozzarella. It was a greasy tinge too, but I was able to get through that. I have no complaints about the garlic knot bun which kept all the pieces together. (Okay, it could have been fluffier.) For $7.19 per sandwich, it definitely exceeded my expectations.
Italian mozzarella cheeseburger review
Wendy’s Switcheroo highlights the infamous square pie. I should probably offer that as Wendy’s first client this is really a taste test of first impressions. ICYDK, the square beef pie was there Since the beginning of Wendy’s In 1969. So, there’s a lot of baggage on this pie.
The Italian Mozzarella Burger can be ordered with a single, double or triple patty. I picked the single for $7.19. When you put beef and tomato sauce together, I immediately think of beef Bolognese. Unfortunately, the beef wasn’t for me. The pie was very dry and didn’t mix with the marinara the bolognese way. Maybe a little more seasoning and sauce would have helped. I’m sure the square pie shines at Wendy’s OG Burgers, but it just wasn’t for me.
However, the mozzarella flavor was more prominent here, which I was happy to taste. With the bar set high by Chicken Sammie, the burgers are down – but there was plenty to live for.
Garlic potato review
I could no Stop eating those fries, now i think all french fries should be garlic fries. According to Wendy’s, their garlic fries are topped with a “garlic herb sauce.” If you get your new fries—and you should—you’re probably wondering where the “sauce” is. In my experience, it mostly soaked the fries, but miraculously, it didn’t make the fries soggy. It helps add a rich flavor that you don’t get with regular fries.
The spice is where it’s at, though. according to Wendy’s Nutritional DetailsThe seasoning mix is mainly made up of garlic powder, onion powder, dried garlic, parmesan, romano cheese, cheddar, bread crumbs, spices, and salt. I need to sell this seasoning in packages – i will add it to everything. The potatoes were like garlic bread for your Italian meal. You’ll want to eat them while they’re fresh and crunchy. For $2.89, I’ll take two.
Most people probably wouldn’t have the garlic mozzarella fries as part of Wendy’s first order, but it was a hit for me. I will definitely be back to see how this square patty stacks up on the Junior Bacon Cheeseburger.
Yue Ling Wu’s review of Wendy’s Italian Menu
Of course, you don’t just have to take my word for Wendy’s Italian mozzarella sandwiches and French fries. Wu also found herself completely satiated – *fried*.
Not only did she call Wendy’s Italian Mozzarella Cheeseburger “some kind of slay,” she gave it a total of 6 chef kisses. The Italian Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich fared slightly better, besting it with a total of 6.5 chef’s kisses. circle alum. But the biggest winner on the list was Wendy’s Garlic Fries. You have to watch and see what a delicious treat she has to offer.
